Here’s What You Need to Know About Hotel Discounts

When planning a vacation, most people think of two things: the price of airfare and the cost of a hotel. They’re the biggest costs of most trips. So, vacationers often look for ways to get major discounts and deals on both.

Airfare discounts seem to be the norm these days, with apps and websites alerting travelers all day, every day about cheap flights to desired destinations. But what about hotels? Although the number of apps and websites notifying vacationers about inexpensive hotel rooms isn’t as plentiful, discounts can still happen if you know when to look.

TripAdvisor recently surveyed hotel websites and online booking sites to find out the best times for travelers to book hotel rooms. Twenty-five international cities and nine regions were reviewed during three summer months.

Overall, the travel site found booking hotel rooms two months ahead of your trip is ideal to save seven percent or more.

Here are the regions:

Caribbean
Book within four months of your trip to save seven percent

Central America
Book within three months of your trip to save seven percent

South America
Book within four months of your trip to save up to 20 percent

Europe
Book three to five months before your trip to save 23 percent

Asia
Book within three months of your trip to save an average of 23 percent

Middle East
Book within four months of travel to save up to 24 percent

Africa
